PAPER TRAY SETTINGS
Tray Settings/Paper Settings
These settings specify the automatic tray switching function, and the paper type and size for each paper tray.
When this setting is enabled and the tray used is automatically changed, the front of the Front/Back XY Print Position Settings may change due to the change of tray.
Auto Tray Switching
When a tray runs out of paper during printing, this determines whether or not another tray with the same size and type of paper is automatically selected and printing continues.
Settings of each tray
These settings specify the paper type, paper size, and functions allowed for each paper tray.
When a tray name is tapped, the tray registration screen appears.

Print a test pattern
Before starting, print a test pattern from [Test Print] in Tray Settings/Paper Settings in the home screen. Three pages of patterns for settings are printed by duplex printing. Select the pattern among the three patterns that is suitable for adjustment.
For the measurement patterns, refer to “Measurement patterns for Front/Back XY Ratio Settings / Front/Back XY Print Position Settings”. -
Calculate the values from the pattern and enter the values.
[AB sizes]
Measure the length of (a-1) in mm. Divide 10000 by the measured length of (a-1), and enter that value in [X] for the front.
Measure the length of (b-1) in mm. Divide 10000 by the measured length of (b-1), and enter that value in [Y] for the front.
[Inch sizes]
Measure the length of (a-2) in inches. Divide 500 by the measured length of (a-2), and enter that value in [X] for the front.
Measure the length of (b-2) in inches. Divide 500 by the measured length of (b-2), and enter that value in [Y] for the front.
Calculate the values for the back in the same way as the front, and enter in X and Y for the back.
Measuring using a measurement line other than the above
When measuring from a position other than the above, such as when the paper width is 100 mm or less, use the following formula.
Length specified by measurement line interval ÷ actual distance between measurement lines x 100 = X, Y values
For the “Length specified by measurement line interval”, refer to the table below.Measurement Line(Measurement Marker) Length specified by measurement line interval Assistant Line (25mm) 50 mm (1.969 inch) 100 mm 200 mm 300 mm 400 mm 5 inch 10 inch 15 inch -
Tap [OK].
-
Return to step 1 and check the result of adjustment.
If the size has deviated as a result of adjustment, repeat adjustment until the deviation is eliminated.- If the print position has shifted due to these settings, configure the Front/Back XY Print Position Settings.
- The Front/Back XY Ratio Settings can only be used when the machine is used as a printer.
Front/Back XY Print Position Settings
The Front/Back XY Print Position Settings are used to make the centers of the front and back print positions match to remove printing misalignment.
Tap the [Change] button in Front/Back XY Print Position Settings to display the advanced settings screen of Front/Back XY Print Position Settings.- The measurement line content of the measurement pattern varies depending on the paper size. Measure from the measurement line closest to the edge of the paper.
- When the length of the paper in the Y direction is 301 mm (11-55/64") or more, the Y length on the front cannot be adjusted.
- When the vertical or horizontal width is 100 mm or less, measure from the assistant line (25 mm).
- If you need to use this setting together with the Front/Back XY Ratio Settings, specify the Front/Back XY Ratio Settings first.
- Changes in the environment of the machine, such as humidity and temperature, may cause a deviation of about 1 mm in the Front/Back XY Print Position.

Measurement patterns for Front/Back XY Ratio Settings / Front/Back XY Print Position Settings
To specify Front/Back XY Print Position Settings and Front/Back XY Ratio Settings, print a pattern for measurement.
Content of the measurement patternNo. Item Description 1 Measurement Line Reference line for measurement.
Measurement lines for AB sizes and inch sizes have been created.2 Dot Line This line is visible through the front side and back side to let you visually check for misalignment. The line is printed at the same position on the front and back. If visual inspection reveals that the lines are not aligned, the print positions on the front and back are not aligned. 3 Assistant Line (25mm) Assistant line located 25 mm from the center of the paper. When the paper size is 100 mm or less, use this line for measurement. 4 Measurement Marker Markers placed on the measurement line. Solid black markers indicate AB measurement, and outline markers indicate inch measurement. The number of markers increase as the distance from the center increases. 5 Assistant Line (Central) Assistant lines that indicate the center of the paper. The intersection of the lines is the center. 6 Notes (Front/Back) These indicate the front and back. 7 Notes (X/Y axis) When entering the settings, these indicate the X and Y axes of the paper. 8 Assistant Line (Magnification) Indicates a position that is ±1% of the measured distance. The same measurement pattern content is printed at the same size, regardless of the paper size. The outer perimeter of the measurement pattern is trimmed to match the paper size.Back to top
