Welcome to your first steps with the Sharp ePaper displays. Let us navigate through sustainability and efficiency to get your device set up and displaying your content in no time.
When you open the box, you will notice a recyclable filler.
Gently take out the contents to get an overview of the included items, cable clamps, mounting screws and power supply cables. And in addition to the display, please also take a look at the manuals.
With the 13-inch version, you'll find a convenient Origami stand. It will make the setup easier and its sleek design fits in seamlessly.
On the backside, you'll find labels, three buttons and two USB-C inputs: one for power and one for data connection. On power up, the LED will blink green and then stay blue.
With everything connected, we will use the ePaper settings tool to configure the device, add content, create playlists or prepare it to be used with CMS software. By reading out the monitor's information, we can confirm the connection.
On the ePaper settings tool interface, the user clicks “Receive” then in a pop-up window titled “Get status command will be sent to ePaper” they click “Send” then “OK.”
Setting up a scheduled slideshow is easy. Add images from your local storage and arrange them accordingly. You can set the preview to match the size and aspect ratio of your device and also pre rotate images if needed.
The user clicks on “Slideshow” on the left menu bar then clicks “Add” and “Open” to add images.
For an automated slide show, set up the time between image changes and active power save to increase efficiency.
The user then turns on “Slideshow settings,” changes the “Interval” settings, and turns on “Power Save Mode.”
These slideshow settings can now be sent to the connected ePaper directly. As soon as the transfer is complete, you will see the device updating to the first image on the list.
The user clicks “Send” in the bottom right then selects a device in the pop-up window and clicks “OK.”
This same mechanism can be used to retrieve a schedule from an ePaper to modify its parameters or add additional images to the list. When finished, just send the modified schedule back to the device.
The user clicks “Receive” and selects the ePaper device to retrieve the device’s current schedule. They then repeat the “Send” process to update the device’s schedule.
By pressing the mode button on the back of the display, you can manually change to the next image. Again, you will see the magnetic ink dots realign in the panel, creating a paper-like image. Once the image is stable, it will remain even without power.
To integrate the ePaper display into a CMS and be able to wirelessly deploy content, you can go into the network settings to create your profile.
On the ePaper settings tool interface, the user is on the “Network Settings” tab under “Display” on the left menu bar. The user turns on “Bluetooth” and “Wireless LAN” and sets up the network profile.
This can then be directly deployed to the ePaper stored on the USB flash drive or stored locally to be rolled out at a later date.
The user clicks “Send” and stores it in a folder on the desktop.
To avoid unwanted access, make sure you activate the key lock and disable the access through USB devices.
The user is now on the “Security Settings” tab under “Display” on the left menu bar. They turn on “Key Lock” and “Prohibit importing from USB flash device.”
With everything set, you are now ready to enjoy signage with the most energy efficient solution in the market.
