Synappx Manage Third Party Device Support

Synappx Manage can collect data from third party devices that conform to the Industry Standard Printer MIB. The collected data enables Synappx Manage to perform various tasks, such as monitoring device status and visualize device information when available.

Leveraging the standard printer MIB, Synappx Manage can manage and control network printers/MFPs. By default, Synappx Manage can collect data from third-party devices:

  • Meters - Total Pages
  • Toner Levels - C/M/Y/K
  • Alerts - e.g. Offline, Paper Jam
  • Basic Device Capabilities - e.g. Trays

Synappx Manage OID/MIB import capability

If granular data is needed for non-Sharp printer devices, the target printer's private MIB can be imported using Synappx Manage's Custom Device Type Import feature (per tenant base). If you have access to the private MIB for third-party printers, you can import and define custom device types for specific printer models so that Synappx Manage can interpret and extend availability of device data.

For example, if you want to view total color pages vs mono pages for a third-party printer, this comes from the private MIB, so it would have to be defined via a custom device type.

When implemented, the data can be importable into eAutomate for meter collection and Automatic Toner Replenishment (ATR) via CEO Juice.

Sharp plans to provide a starter set of custom device types for select HP and Lexmark devices.

Custom Device Type (Via Private MIBs) can add:

  • Detailed Page Counts and Supply Information
    • Page counts: mono, color, simplex, duplex, copy, scan, fax, etc.
    • Supply history and statistics

Under Consideration for Custom Device Types:

  • Alerts
    • Alerts generated based on available data such as supply level thresholds
  • Expanded Device Information
    • Extended device data such as configurations, features, and more
    • Vendor provided device picture to show in Synappx Manage
    • Extended reports and analytics
